Who Can Utilize Financial Aid?

Paper FAFSA Applications

Federal financial aid is funding that is designed for students with financial difficulty to be able to pursue an education. The distribution of this funding is monitored by The United States Department of Education and it is their standard that determine not only the qualifications but the qualification amounts for applicants.

If you are in need of financial assistance to pursue your education, Federal Financial Aid could be an option.

In order to find out if you qualify you must first fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. From there you will work with the Financial Aid Administrator at your school to determine your qualification amounts as well as your next steps.

What Types of Aid Are Available?

There are a few different types of financial aid options that qualified students can receive. We hope this brief breakdown can help you gain an understanding on what’s out there.

Make sure to grab a paper and pen and write down any questions that you have, this will help you be prepared for your tour and to fully understand what is available to you.

  • Unsubsidized Loans

These loans are the full responsibility of the student to pay back. The interest for these loans is accrued throughout your time spent at school so it is recommended to limit your usage of these loans, and to make payments toward them while you are in school if possible.

  • Subsidized Loans

While these loans are also the full responsibility of the student to payback, they do not accrue interest during enrollment. That said, once you have left school these loans begin to accrue interest so it is important to be aware of the added cost and make plans to pay them back right as soon as possible.

  • Direct Parent Plus Loans

If you are still a dependant of your parents and there is unmet need within your home your parents can qualify for this loan to help with your education.

The types of loans that are available to qualified individuals are varied, so make sure you take the time to sit down with your financial aid administrator to ask questions and fully understand the options that are before you.

Are There Scholarships or Grants I Could Receive?

In addition to loans, there are also grants and scholarship opportunities available. Different that student loans, grants and scholarships do not have to be paid back.

However, they can be harder to get, or the dollar amount could be limited over your lifetime. Make sure you take the time to ask questions before applying so that you fully understand what is required. Our Financial Aid Administrator is ready to help you with any question you might have.

  • Pell Grants

Pell grants are disbursed to qualified individuals who have an unmet need in regards to their ability to pursue their education. There are limits on disbursement amounts and time frame, so be aware of all of the rules before utilizing these.

  • TSPA Scholarships

As part of The Salon Professional Academy family we are honored to be able to offer scholarship opportunities that are exclusive to our network of schools. Among these, the Redken and Diamond Academy scholarship is available to our students. If accepted, these disbursements could save you thousands of dollars off your investment.
